Emergency electric bill payment help offered in Hillsborough

Hillsborough County, Florida-- Are you struggling to make ends meet? If so, you may qualify for financial assistance from the Family and Aging Services Department's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program for Hillsborough County Residents, also known as LIHEAP.

Program coordinators say LIHEAP is a federally funded initiative that helps low-income residents with payments on their delinquent electric bills.

Free Lowry Park Zoo admission for Military Members

Tampa, Florida-- The Lowry Park Zoo is honoring active military members and veterans on Memorial Day, May 27th, with free admission.

All you have to do is show your Department of Defense ID at the zoo's ticket counter and you along with three direct dependents get in at no charge.

The Lowry Park Zoo opens at 9:30 a.m. on Memorial Day and is open until 5 p.m.

Hillsborough celebrates St. Pat's with discounts on cats!

HIllsborough County, Florida-- Celebrate St. Patricks Day by adopting a cat!

All during March, felines one-year and older are offered for the wee cost of just $20 --including spay/neuter surgery, vaccination, micro-chip, and license tag.

Hillsborough County Animal Services on Falkenburg Road is open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 a.m. for adoptions and lost pet searches.

FREE tax prep for select Hillsborough residents

Hillsborough Co., FL-- Extension Service is offering free tax preparation assistance for those who earned $57,000 or less in 2012. Tax filers will be able to access a self-guided tax preparation program and receive assistance, as needed, from an IRS trained and certified volunteer. This free service will be available by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. starting Feb. 5 through April 9.
