TAMPA, Fla. -- Student Senate President Khaled Hassouneh says his fellow students are outraged that USF is the only state university facing extremely deep cuts.
Hassouneh says students understand the economic hardship that the state is going through, but he says all state universities should be treated equally.
USF's 58 percent cut would be matched by a 26 percent cut at UF and a 22 percent cut for FSU.
10 News was the first TV station to shine the spotlight on JD Alexander's "bullying" last fall and many say severe cuts proposed to USF's budget are the retaliation they feared from the powerful senator last fall.
On Monday, President Genshaft will meet with JD Alexander, who has pushed to turn USF Polytechnic in Lakeland into Florida's 12th state university.
