Arts and Activities for Temple Terrace Tykes!

Temple Terrace, Florida-- The City of Temple Terrace website offers a variety events for your little one. Arts and Activities, including age-appropriate stories, finger plays, rhymes and songs, take place on the following Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m.:

  • May 16
  • May 23
  • May 30 

This gives school-age children the opportunity to read, create and have fun.

Homeless graduating seniors get help from Polk County Transition students

 

Polk County, Florida-- The Polk County Transition students located at USF recently volunteered to put together gift bags for homeless Polk County Public Schools graduating seniors.

The gift bags they prepared contained items for daily living including sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, wash cloths, toiletries and personal hygiene items. A roll of quarters for laundry, bus passes and gift cards to local restaurants and grocery stores were also included in the stack of items.

Temple Terrace Library hosts 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' party

Temple Terrace, Florida-- On Saturday, May 5, the Temple Terrace Public Library will host a Diary of a Wimpy Kid series party.

Kids can enjoy crafts, games and other exciting activities as they prove that wimpy kids rule!

Children's board of Hillsborough County hosts reading Summit

Tampa, Florida-- Help Hillsborough's future and attend The Children's Board of Hillsborough County's "Great by 8 to Graduate Reading Summit", put on in an effort to ensure that all Hillsborough County students can read at or above grade level by third grade.

According to the Children's Board, the agenda includes facilitated group discussions and action planning around issues directly related to school achievement, including improving school attendance, increasing parent engagement with the schools, and promoting summer reading.

Hillsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office website has a newly reserved section, solely dedicated to honoring America's fallen Military heroes since September 11, 2001.

32nd Annual Storytelling Festival around the corner!

Hillsborough County, Florida-- According to a Hillsborough County News release, the Tampa-Hillsborough County 32nd Annual Storytelling Festival  will take place on Saturday, April 21 from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Hillsborough High School, 5000 Central Ave. hosts the free festival.

The whole family is encouraged to attend, where they can visit various storytelling tents, entertain in an open mic area, interact with storybook characters, and much more.

Food trucks will sell food throughout the day.
