Trial delayed for man accused of throwing baby onto I-275

TAMPA, Florida - The trial of a man accused of kidnapping his girlfriend's infant son and then throwing him out of a speeding car has been pushed back.

Richard McTear is charged with the death of 3-month-old Emanuel Murray. Investigators say McTear threw the baby from his car onto Interstate 275 near Fowler Avenue in early May, 2009.

On Wednesday, the judge said McTear's trial will not happen until some time in 2013.  Several penalty phase motions were also filed, which the judge is expected to rule on either Thursday or Monday.

Kilo of cocaine seized in drug bust

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police have arrested four people who attempted to buy a kilogram of cocaine.

According to police, the arrests on the afternoon of May 8 in the 1700 block of Busch Boulevard was the result of a two-week long investigation.

Reynaldo Garcia, 39, Eric McGill, 50, Elijah Banks III, 41, and Thomas Snell, 37, were all charged with Conspiracy to Traffic in Cocaine over 400 grams in exchange for $34,000. Banks and McGill were also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Temple, Terrace, FL - Temple Terrace has seen a 27 percent drop in major crimes over the past three years, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The FDLE released its 2011 Uniform Crime Report on Monday. Its figures show that Florida's crime rate is at a 41-year low. The number of violent crimes (murder, forcible sex offenses, robbery and aggravated assaults) was down 3.7 percent statewide in 2011 compared to 2010, according to the report.

Wal-Mart shooting suspect still wanted

Tampa, Florida-- Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detectives continue the search for Dylan Iwan Landvreugd, 19, whom they believe shot a victim twice in the Wal-Mart parking lot, located at 2701 E. Fletcher Avenue in Tampa.

He is wanted on a count of Aggravated Battery with Great Bodily Harm.

They consider the suspect to be armed and dangerous, and Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $1000 for any information that leads to Landvreugd's arrest.

Homicide investigation in North Tampa

Tampa, Fla. - Hillsborough County detectives are trying to obtain a search warrant to get inside the apartment where the homicide happened Monday night.

Deputies say around 10:00, four people were inside an apartment at 14606 North 42 Street in Tampa, when there was a knock at the door. When the victim opened the door, two men confronted him.

Deputies say there was a struggle, and then the victim was pistol whipped and shots were fired.

Tampa teen accused of burning down house

TAMPA, Florida (AP) - Police say a Tampa teenager burned his house down after getting into a fight with his mother.

According to police, 18-year-old Aldwin Chyrstian Caceres faces first-degree arson charges after they say he poured gasoline over two couches and his mother's bed on Sunday. Police say the teen had argued with his mother about a cell phone.

Deputies search for Walmart shooter

Tampa, Florida -- Deputies say a warrant has been issued in the shooting of a man outside of a Tampa Walmart.

Investigators say 19-year-old Dylan Landvreugd got involved in a verbal argument with 20-year-old Travis Gray Sunday inside the Walmart located at 2701 Fletcher Avenue East.

Surveillance video shows Gray eventually leaving the store with Landvreugd following behind. Then just outside the store, surveillance video shows the suspect removing a handgun from his waistband and shooting Gray twice in the torso.
